Katrina Perales is currently in her seventh year as the Executive Director for the Amarillo Youth Choirs. During 1996-1999, she served as a member on the AYC Board of Directors, and was successful at grant writing for the organization during that time. Before joining AYC’s staff, she was employed by the Amarillo Opera as the Director of Development and Finance for eight years. Mrs. Perales received her Bachelor of Music degree from West Texas A&M University specializing in music business. She also has mastered several fund raising continuing education courses during her work in arts administration.
Mrs. Perales is also a professional singer having been seen in productions of Kismet as Marsinah, The Mikado as Yum-Yum, The Merry Widow as Dodo, Pirates of Penzance as Isabel, The Ballad of Baby Doe as Kate, Sophie’s Saloon as Lucinda, and in the musical drama TEXAS. She also has performed in Amarillo Little Theatre’s productions of Sweeny Todd as Johanna and Phantom as Belladova, both for which she was nominated for ALTA awards. She has appeared as a guest soloist with various choirs and for various churches and recitals. Mrs. Perales has served as a professional vocal and drama adjudicator and as a vocal instructor. In addition, she currently participates in the Amarillo Civic Chorus and Polk Street United Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir. She is married to Jerry, and shares his dream of providing a life changing musical experience for the children of the Texas Panhandle.
